Cora for your community
Bring community help to your website.
Add Ask Cora to your website so visitors can find nearby services without leaving your site. We encourage community organizations, libraries, schools, businesses and others to share it.
Try the live example
This is how Cora will look when embedded on your site. It includes the Choose the help you need page, the Help near you results page, and the details page for an individual service. Choose a starting language, ZIP code and optional needs below to tailor the example and your embed code. For example, you can use the starting filters to show food pantries near you. Visitors can change these choices or choose Use my location.
Match my website adapts to nearby content colors, font and text size. Fonts loaded only by your website are not copied into the frame; unavailable fonts use a safe fallback. Standard Cora style uses Cora’s default appearance. Custom style lets you choose colors, font and font size (16 px by default). Custom button color also accents the two location and help headings, with its shade adjusted for readability. Avenir uses installed fonts when available and otherwise falls back to Arial; no proprietary font is supplied. The Cora logo stays recognizable, and text colors are adjusted for readability.
Add Cora to your website
Place this snippet in your website’s custom HTML area. The recommended version adjusts its height as visitors search and open details.
The embed code below is based on the selections you made in Try the live example.
Visitors can change the starting language, ZIP code and needs. Starting needs preselect help categories; they do not restrict visitors to those categories. Match my website reads selected styles near the embed and applies them to Cora; it does not copy your entire website design. Your chosen text color is used directly when readable. If it needs more contrast, Cora darkens or lightens its shade instead of replacing it with the default color.
Basic iframe — for sites that restrict scripts
This option uses Cora’s standard appearance, or your Custom style selections, and a fixed height. Automatic website matching requires the recommended script version. Longer results scroll within the frame. Your website must allow iframes from askcora.org.
A simple link — if your website cannot embed
Give visitors a clear link to Ask Cora instead.
Website settings and optional refinements
Some website builders remove scripts or iframes. Use their custom HTML/embed component, ask your website administrator to allow Ask Cora, or choose the link alternative.
If your site uses a Content Security Policy, allow frames from https://askcora.org and, for the recommended installer, scripts from https://askcora.org. Use my location also requires your site to permit geolocation for the embedded frame; ZIP search works without it.
For a particular host button style, add data-style-source="#your-button" to the embed container. Fonts must be available inside Cora’s frame; locally available fonts work, while fonts loaded only on your host page may fall back. If your site changes its theme dynamically, call CoraEmbed.refresh() after the change.
The embed shares layout and selected style settings with its host page, not visitors’ search choices or saved services. Keep the fallback link visible so visitors can open Cora directly.
About Cora
A directory you do not have to maintain
Ask Cora builds its directory from public information, with preference for provider-controlled and authoritative sources. We record when information was checked and refresh service information as Directory research and re-verification occur.
Services, hours, eligibility and availability can change. Contact the provider when a detail is especially important.
Embedded Cora receives application updates automatically. You do not need to maintain a separate directory or reinstall it for routine updates.
Current search coverage
This list updates from current searchable service data. It shows search availability, not a complete inventory of every service in an area or a guarantee that every provider serves every resident.
Privacy and visitor choice
You can find help without signing in. If you choose Use my location, Ask Cora uses your device location to find nearby services. Ask Cora does not store those precise coordinates in its application database or browser preferences. Coordinates are sent to the search service to resolve nearby results; you can use a ZIP code instead.
My Cora saves services and search choices in your browser on that device. You do not need an Ask Cora account to save them, and you can clear them from My Cora. Search links may contain a ZIP code and selected filters. Some browsers restrict storage inside embeds; in that case, saved choices may last only for the visit. Visitors can open Ask Cora directly.
Referral links and email
Ask Cora does not require a person’s name to create a referral list and does not create a client case record. A referral link created from the Provider Desk currently works for 7 days. The referral record contains the selected services, language and, when entered, ZIP code. Link expiration does not mean the record is deleted.
When you email a referral, the recipient address and optional notes are sent through Ask Cora’s email delivery provider. Ask Cora’s application database does not store the recipient email address or referral notes, but it keeps operational send-status records. The email provider receives and retains delivery information and message content. Do not include confidential medical or sensitive personal information in referral notes.
Languages and accessibility information
Ask Cora’s current interface languages are listed in the Starting language selector above. Some service information may fall back to English.
Ask Cora shows accessibility and accommodation information when it is documented. If it is not shown, that means it is not documented in Ask Cora, not necessarily that it is unavailable. Cora uses labeled controls and responsive layouts; we do not claim independent accessibility certification.
Search results and corrections
Ask Cora does not currently sell paid placement or sponsored ranking in its service search results.
A public correction form is not yet available. If something appears out of date, contact the listed provider to confirm the information you need.
Downloads and the Ask Cora logo
You are encouraged to use the Ask Cora logo on your website and outreach materials to help people find community services. Embedding Cora and using the supplied logo are free; no license agreement is required.
Please preserve the logo’s design and proportions, leave room around it, and avoid implying that Ask Cora endorses your organization.
The starter package contains instructions, an example page, installation snippets and the original logo. No download is required to use the recommended snippet.
